Five Supreme Court justices ruled that returning Hizbollah prisoners Sheikh Abdul Obeid and Mustafa Dirani to Lebanon would endanger Israel's security, reported The Jerusalem Post Wednesday.

The judges said that recent Hizbollah actions against Israel lends credence to security establishment assessments that the two would return to playing a major role in the organization, and asserted that this justifies their continued administrative detention, said the paper.

Justice Michael Cheshin added releasing Obeid and Dirani would be unthinkable as long as Hizbollah continues to hold Israeli soldiers, according to the daily.

Hizbollah fighters captured three Israeli soldiers some six weeks ago in order to swap them with Arab prisoners in Israeli jails.

Several countries tired to mediate the swap of the prisoners between Israel and Hizbollah but to no avail – Albawaba.com
