The US Supreme Court on Monday ended a hearing of oral arguments in a momentous case which could decide who becomes the 43rd US president.
Thirty-four days after voters went to the polls, attorneys for George W. Bush and his rival Al Gore squared off before the nine justices over manual recounts of ballots in Florida.
Their ruling on whether the recount should resume or be scrapped is likely to decide who wins the White House.
It is not yet clear how long the justices will deliberate over their ruling, but an audio tape of the proceedings and a transcript was due to be released soon after the hearing -- WASHINGTON (AFP)
