Sudan has decided to send a special envoy for peace to Somalia.
The Sudanese News Agency said that Ambassador Ali Abdul Rahman Al Numairi, the former Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, has been chosen for the task.
Metref Siddiq, Sudanese state minister was quoted by Al Raay Al Aam newspaper as saying that the chances of peace are now greater than at any time before.
He added that the Rome meeting, with its call for ceasefire and giving the chance for other initiatives, is considered an indication that all parties have become convinced of the need to work for peace.
In a television interview, meanwhile, Siddiq said that the Kenyan President Daniel Arap Moi will discuss, during his forthcoming visit to Sudan, the possibility of the resumption of negotiations between the Sudanese government and the rebel movement, and set a place and time for negotiations, said the paper – Albawaba.com
