SriLankan Airlines, the largest foreign carrier into India, has extended its internet airline booking facility to customers flying out of Doha. The move is part of a rolling programme that will see all SriLankan Airlines stations worldwide offering the facility by the end of the year; an initiative which is aimed at simplifying ticket purchasing procedures and will greatly help with the International Air Transport Association’s drive to curtail carrier operating costs and increase service efficiency.
SriLankan Airlines’ Manager for Qatar; Mr. Lakshman Weerasooriya, is confident that the new booking method will prove popular with travellers in the country, because of the time and cost savings benefits over traditional booking options. “Customers using SriLankan Airlines and flying out of Doha will save significant time by making online purchase of airline tickets, when all of these functions can be done while seated in the comfort of their home or office,” he says. “All they now have to do is visit the SriLankan Airlines website at www.srilankan.aero and follow the on-line menu,” he adds.
Customers using the service will be connected to the SriLankan Airlines’ reservations system, allowing them to search preferred dates, times, available flights, check seat availability, reserve a seat, print out an e-ticket and even indicate meal preferences. The procedure will generate much less wastage than the traditional booking method and problems associated with misplaced, damaged or forgotten tickets will no longer be an issue.
SriLankan Airlines operates a full Airbus fleet to 51 destinations in 28 countries worldwide. Flights from the Middle East to Colombo connect with onward services to the Maldives, ten key destinations in India, seven destinations in the Far East including Malaysia, Singapore, China, Hong Kong and Thailand.
SriLankan Airlines modern fleet consists of Airbus A340, A330 and A320 aircraft and the carrier was recently awarded the prestigious Imperial Mark, a global accolade of excellence in recognition of its exceptional levels of service and quality.
