Unidentified attackers threw Molotov cocktails at banks and a travel agency in Spain's northern Basque country early on Sunday, fire services said.

At least five of the homemade devices were thrown at banks in the towns of Portugalete and Santurtzi near the northern industrial city of Bilbao.

The bombs caused minor damage and no casualties.

On Friday, Molotov cocktails were hurled at the national public television and radio (RTVE) building in neighboring San Sebastian.

The improvised fire bombs damaged two cars parked outside but failed to penetrate the inside of the building.

Molotov cocktail attacks on businesses and institutions are frequent in the troubled Basque region.

Police attribute them to young militants of the Basque separatist group, ETA -- BILBAO (AFP)
