Six people were reported dead and a dozen missing Tuesday following flash floods in western Algeria, near the border of Morocco, where more than 100 residents have been left without shelter, press reports said.
The Algerian regions hit by floods on Sunday and Monday were Naama and Tlemcen, some 700 kilometers (400 miles) and 540 kilometers (320 miles) from the capital, Algiers.
Six people died after being swept away in floods in Ain Sefra, near Naama, while a dozen others disappeared, according to the daily Le Matin.
At least one person disappeared in Tlemcen, the Daily Oran reported.
Over the border in Morocco, heavy rains at the weekend in the eastern region of Taza left 123 families without shelter, while traffic on many of the country's main highways was interrupted, according to the official news agency said – ALGIERS (AFP)
