ALBAWABA- Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi is set to travel to Riyadh on Thursday to discuss a proposed Arab plan for Gaza, according to security sources cited by the London-based newspaper Al-Quds Al-Arabi

The visit comes as Arab nations seek an alternative to U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposal to displace the Palestinian people and place Gaza under American control.

Leaders from Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, the UAE, and Qatar are expected to review the Arab plan during discussions in Riyadh before formally presenting it at an emergency Arab summit in Cairo on March 4.

A separate high-level meeting involving Jordan, the UAE, and Qatar is also anticipated in Saudi Arabia on Friday, though sources say the date is yet to be finalized.

The Arab states have expressed strong opposition to Trump’s plan, which reportedly includes the forced displacement of Palestinians to Jordan and Egypt and the transformation of Gaza into a luxury tourist hub, dubbed the "Riviera of the Middle East."

Both Cairo and Amman swiftly rejected the proposal, with regional leaders warning that such a move would lead to serious instability.

Saudi Arabia is now spearheading efforts to counter Trump’s plan and push forward an Arab-led solution for Gaza’s reconstruction.
