ALBAWABA - At least two people were killed, and three others were injured after the fall of shrapnel in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi Media Office said on Thursday morning.

According to the office, the identities of the people killed have not yet been revealed by authorities.

Abu Dhabi Media Office wrote on X, "The competent authorities in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi responded to an incident resulting from the fall of shrapnel in Suyahan Street following the successful interception of a ballistic missile by air defenses, which resulted in the death of two unidentified individuals and the injury of three others, in addition to damage to several vehicles. Updates will be provided as they become available."

The statement also read, "We urge the public to obtain information from official sources only and to avoid circulating rumors or unverified information."

Moreover, the UAE's defence ministry said earlier today that the country's air defences were responding to an Iranian missile and drone attack. "UAE air defences are currently responding to incoming missile and drone threats from Iran," the ministry posted on X.

The ministry added that the blast sounds heard are the result of the Air Defence Systems intercepting missiles and drones launched from Iran.
