Shots were fired Sunday at two school buses carrying the children of Jewish settlers in the Gaza Strip, but there were no casualties, military sources said.
Several bullets pierced the armour plating of one of the buses near Neve Dekalim, in the south of the Gaza Strip. Another bus came under fire in the north of the territory.
Overnight, Palestinians also fired shots in the direction of five of the settlements in the Gaza Strip, but injuries were reported.
On November 20 a bomb exploded in the path of a school bus in the Newe Dekalim sector, killing two settlers and injuring 10.
In retaliation Israel launched massive punishment raids on Palestinians targets in the Gaza Strip .
Jewish settlements, many of them heavily fortified, have become flashpoints for violent confrontations between Palestinians and Israeli troops during the recent unrest.
Some 200,000 Jewish settlers live in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, land captured by Israel in war 33 years ago, in violation of international law, and their fate is one of the key bones of contention in efforts to find a solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict -- JERUSALEM (AFP)
