An MP representing the Shiite movement Amal warned Saturday against launching any attacks from Lebanon into Israel in "disregard" for set guidelines.
"Any disregard for the Lebanese government, the Lebanese army and the Lebanese resistance, in all its factions, does not serve the Lebanese position at this point ... or Palestinian interests," Ali Hassan Khalil told AFP.
Khalil was referring to a clash late Friday at the Lebanese-Israeli border that reportedly killed one member of a guerrilla band attempting to infiltrate the Jewish state.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, and the Shiite groups Amal and Hizbollah, which both spearheaded armed resistance to Israel's 22-year occupation of Lebanon, have denied responsibility for the operation.
Unconfirmed reports alleged that Palestinian guerrillas had carried out the operation, which came on the eve of the Arab summit in Cairo called to discuss three weeks of bloody clashes between the Palestinians and Israel.
Asked who was behind the attack, Khalil said: "We should find the truth about this incident ... and things could become clearer within the next two days and therefore the picture could be complete before our eyes."
"Any action from any side should have not disregarded the strategy and the general guidelines drawn by the Lebanese state and resistance. ... Everybody should be under the ceiling of this strategy," he said.
"The opening of the Arab borders for all resistance movements is a matter that requires a comprehensive Arab position within a combat strategy that could be opened against Israel," he said.
In the last five years, Palestinian guerrilla groups have rarely carried out attacks against Israel from southern Lebanon, which Israel occupied until May.
