UAE’s First Lady, Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the UAE Women's Federation has donated a sum of two million dirhams for charity work, Emirates official news agency reported Wednesday.
Sheikha Fatima opened the doors for donation which touched Dh 4 million and reiterated that good deeds in the UAE had never been linked with occasions like Ramadan and the Eid.
She said that Emirates have always provided assistance to others and to sood by follow human beings in time of hardship.
Meanwhile, in accordance with the directives of Sheikha Fatima, a delegation of the society headed by Secretary-General Sanaa Darwish Al Kutbi will go to Afghanistan's capital Kabul on a three-day visit to assess the situation of women and children there.
During the visit, WAM said, the delegation will distribute among needy people relief goods, including foodstuff, medicines, clothes and blankets. The UAE aircraft taking the delegation will be the first Arab plane carrying relief goods to land in Kabul since the recent developments in Afghanistan, said the agency.
