Israel's prime minister Ariel Sharon on Monday told the Knesset foreign affairs and defense committee about his decision not to negotiate with the Palestinian leadership due to his claim they have not been implementing the US-backed "road map" peace plan.

"There will be no negotiations for peace with the current Palestinian leadership", Sharon made clear during the meeting in Jerusalem.

The Israeli premier told the committee members that this decision was taken because the Palestinians, according to him, have not been implementing the "road map".

In addition, the Israeli leader disclosed his plans to visit the United States next month in order to present his "disengagement plan" to the Americans. (Albawaba.com)
