The plan to disengage from the Gaza Strip and part of the West Bank will benefit Israel's security, diplomacy and economy, as well as further peace, Israel's Prime Minister Ariel Sharon said Sunday, three days ahead of his planned trip to Washington to meet with U.S. President George W. Bush.

"The disengagement is important for security," Sharon told reporters prior to a meeting with President Moshe Katsav in his ranch.

Sharon said the withdrawal would only boost Israel's ability to fight "terrorism." "This plan allows for acting without any limitations against terror, a struggle we will continue to carry out," the Israeli leader said. (Albawaba.com)
