Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon convened a meeting of his inner security cabinet on Tuesday afternoon following two bomb blasts in Jerusalem, army radio said, quoted by AFP.
The suspected bomber was killed and at least 10 wounded when a bomb exploded near a bus in the residential neighborhood of French Hill on the edge of east Jerusalem Tuesday afternoon, police said.
The blast occurred only hours after a car bomb exploded near a supermarket in the commercial and industrial area of Talpiot in southwest Jerusalem, injuring at least three.
Al-Jazeera satellite channel's correspondent said, however, that five were injured in the first blast.
The bomb, which exploded as an Egged bus passed by, was in a parked car near the Ahim Yisrael shopping mall.
"Haaretz said that most of those injured were suffering from shock.”
Meanwhile, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement claimed responsibility for the car bomb.
In a statement broadcast on Al Jazeera, the organization said that it would continue its struggle against Israel.
