The authorities of Sharjah emirate, UAE issued Monday a ban on the sale of cigarettes and all tobacco products to teenagers in the emirate, Khaleej Times reported Tuesday.
The paper said, the move is aimed at protecting young people from hazards of smoking and curbing its adverse effects on public health.
The council, which met at the Ruler's Office, referred to the articles governing the council's decision No 11 of 2000, which penalizes violators of the provisions of article three thereof, the daily said -- Albawaba.com
