Seven people were killed and several others wounded in an attack this week by suspected Islamic fundamentalists on the outskirts of Medea, south of the Algerian capital, residents in the area said Friday.
The attack occurred in Bati on the edge of Medea, some 90 kilometers (55 miles) south of Algiers overnight Wednesday, when armed Islamists triggered bombs planted in front of a number of homes.
The inhabitants emerged from their houses and were gunned down by the attackers, witnesses said.
