At least seven people were killed, including local officials and four others wounded in separate attacks in Algeria last weekend by Islamic rebels, newspaper sources said today.
Both Al-Watan and Le' Quotidian Doron newspapers reported four passengers dead and three others wounded in a shooting incident by an armed group shortly after breaking fast yesterday.
Al-Watan quoted security officials as saying that the attack was carried out by an active armed group in the area that shot a college student bus, killing three on Ramada eve.
The Le' Quotidian Doron newspaper said that the mayor of Ouled Aissa, a town east of the capital Algiers, and his deputy were killed Thursday by three men who fired machine guns on them while they were at a cafe.
Source say that the attack was carried out by the same-armed group that killed a civilian guard patrol in an ambush where two of the guards were killed.
