Two explosions rocked Damascus Thursday morning near al-Qazaz intersection at the southern ring-road. Scores of people were killed and wounded.

The explosions took place at a densely populated area as they coincided with the employees and students going to their jobs and schools. The attacks occurred almost simultaneously around 8:00 (0500 GMT). State television blamed the attacks on "terrorists."

A big carter was seen in the place of the explosions and the chassis of burned cars and means of transport were scattered all over the targeted area. Many civilian cars were destroyed by explosions and the facades of some buildings were blown out by explosions. Emergency services, assisted by residents tried to help the wounded.

Amid the destruction, a man shouted: "That's the freedom you want? Students from schools and their employees to their jobs are dead".

The UN observers team inspected the site of the two attacks.
