Saudi security agents killed two wanted gunmen and detained a third after raiding a residential area in the capital Riyadh Thursday. One of the dead was identified as Saleh al-Ufi, a senior al Qaeda leader in the kingdom.
Interior Ministry Spokesman Mansour al-Turki conveyed security units launched early in the morning a “security ambush” in a villa at al-Massef, a residential area north of Riyadh.
The wanted gunmen fired a grenade from inside the villa at police, but it did not detonate, itwas reported.
Security forces sealed off the area and prevented pedestrians and vehicles from entering or leaving the scene of the clash.
