Saudi Arabia and Russia agreed Wednesday to work closely to overcome the threat of terrorism as Foreign Ministers Saud al-Faisal and Igor Ivanov discussed the Middle East and Iraq.

"The international community faces international threats and challenges such as terrorism, and we must cooperate closely to resolve these problems," Ivanov said as the two Ministers went into talks.

"We are interested in continuing our consultations with the Saudi leadership which is well known in the Arab world for its efforts" to find a solution to conflicts in the Middle East region and Iraq, AFP cited him as saying.

Al-Faisal added that both sides displayed "mutual trust" in their consultations.

He is currently accompanying Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah on a three-day visit to Russia.

On his part, the Russian minister stressed that Moscow was satisfied with the negotiations between Putin and Crown Prince Abdallah held the day before. "The negotiations and the document signed yesterday open a new page in our relations," he said. (Albawaba.com)
