Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah claimed late Tuesday that Saudi Arabia is responsible for the Iranian embassy bombing in Beirut last month, according to a BBC report.
In an interview with Lebanon's OTV television, the head of the Lebanese Shi'ite militant group said the bomb attack was affiliated with Saudi intelligence.
Abdullah Azzam Brigades, a Sunni jihadist group, already took responsibility for the attack that killed 25 and injured more than 140 last month, but Nasrallah believes that the group is "linked to Saudi intelligence services" and used to express "Saudi Arabia's rage against Iran [over Syria]," according to the report.
Saudi Arabia has previously condemned the bombings and has not responded to Nasrallah's claim.
The Brigades have also not made any public statements related to KSA. Rather, they have described their attack as "a double martyrdom operation carried out by two heroes from the heroic Sunnis of Lebanon."
The conflict in Syria has increased tensions between Shi'ite Hezbollah, who supports Syria's Bashar Al Assad, and Sunni Saudi Arabia, who backs the rebels. Fighters from Hezbollah have even joined the war in Syria to support the regime, and many Lebanese Sunni Muslims have also entered Syria to fight for the rebels, and in some cases, Al Qaeda-affiliated opposition groups.
