Saudi Arabia confirmed on Monday that it is following up with the U.S. authorities on Saudi detainees at the Guantanamo bay naval base in Cuba.
In an interview with the Saudi "al Watan" newspaper, Saudi minister of interior prince Nayef bin Abdelaziz hoped that there would be cooperation with the! US officials in this matter.
As soon as the Saudi authorities receive the detainees, it will interrogate them and will not only rely on the interrogations made by the U.S. officials, he added.
The U.S. authorities are detaining 158 people belonging to the al-Qaeda organization and the Afghani Taliban movement at Guantanamo.
The U.S. describes the detainees as "unlawful combatants" and not "prisoners of war.” (albawaba.com)
