The Saudi Kingdom has prevented an Arab doctor recruited for the annual pilgrimage to Mecca from entering the country after he was found to have ties with Osama Bin Laden's al-Qaeda terror network, the health ministry said on Monday.
Information that the unidentified doctor had links to the al-Qaeda organization "was confirmed after investigation," Health Minister Osama Shobokshi told the Arabic Al-Hayat newspaper.
The Arab national had been recruited to work in Mecca via an international employment agency to strengthen the Saudi health system at a time when an estimated 2.5 million pilgrims are expected to take part in the holy rites which begin Wednesday. (Albawaba.com)
