saudi’s leading it distributor opens dubai office

BDL Gulf will Leverage UAE Operation to Become Region’s Top Player
in Regional Market Worth USD 3.1 Billion Annually

‘BDL Reputation Built on Integrity and Trust,’ Says President,
H.H. Prince Waleed Al Saud

Saudi Arabia’s number one IT distributor today announced the opening of its Dubai office, a move widely seen in the market to be an aggressive play for the industry’s top position in the Gulf region.

BDL Gulf executives have said that they believe the region’s IT distributor market to be worth more than USD 3.1 billion now, but expect it to climb as high as USD 4.5 billion by 2010.

The company, part of the Saudi Arabia-based BDL Group, has confirmed that it has launched a UAE operation to oversee the company’s business across the six GCC states, excluding Saudi Arabia, and much of North Africa, excluding Egypt.  In addition, the Dubai office of BDL Gulf will manage sales and distribution across the Levant, Iraq, Pakistan, and the CIS states.

H.H. Prince Waleed Al Saud, BDL Group President commented on the strategic imperative of the Dubai office opening: “BDL Gulf has the experience, reputation, and human capital necessary to become the region’s top IT distributor.  With continued emphasis on partner relations and excellence of service delivery, we expect to dramatically increase our market share.”

The company’s portfolio includes global, market-leading brands, such as: LG, Dell, AMD, Acer, Fujitsu-Siemens Computers, BenQ, Lexmark, Asus, and US Robotics.

“BDL has distribution rights for excellent brands, but our key offering to the channel is the immediate availability of those products, and our strong focus on service,” said Sunil Nair, BDL Gulf’s Dubai-based General Manager.

“And BDL enjoys an extremely high reputation in the channel, among vendors, partners, and even competitors.”

BDL has major offices in Riyadh, Cairo, and Manama, and it employs more than 300 employees.  It has said that it will continue to invest in world-class logistics facilities, to include state-of-the-art service centers.

BDL’s corporate office is located at Al Khaleej Centre in the heart of Dubai’s computer retail district. To support their distribution network, BDL has a warehouse facility at the Jebel Ali Free Zone, where it is registered as a free zone legal entity.

“We currently have an arrangement with a third-party logistics provider and are keen to continue this hybrid distribution model, where we rely on the third-party but also continue to grow our own warehousing capability,” Nair concluded.
