ALBAWABA - Satellite Images documented a horrible massacre in Sudan's Al Fashir city, where 'pools of blood' were seen from the top. In addition, local reports confirmed the killing of over 460 people inside a hospital in Northern Darfur city, committed by the paramilitary forces.
The aerial images, according to researchers, make clear evidence of ethnic cleansing and war crimes against civilians. The Humanitarian Research Lab at Yale University, which shared a report on Sudan's Al Fashir, confirmed the existence of "evidence" of ongoing massacres by releasing video footage and satellite imagery, AFP reported.
On the other hand, UN Secretary-General António Guterres urged for an end to the "military escalation" in the African country, following the killing of more than 460 people at a maternity hospital in the city of Al Fashir, which was captured by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on October 26.
Guterres posted on X, "I am gravely concerned by the recent military escalation in El Fasher, in North Darfur state, Sudan." He added, "I urge the Sudanese Armed Forces & the Rapid Support Forces to take swift, tangible steps toward a negotiated settlement."
The RSF forces captured Al Fashir city on Sunday, the last major city held by the army in the vast Darfur region, following an 18-month siege.
The World Health Organization (WHO) said yesterday that it was "deeply disturbed and shocked by reports of the murder of over 460 patients and their companions at the Saudi Maternity Hospital in Al Fashir city, following recent attacks and the abduction of health workers."
