A senior Iraqi official and advisor to Iraqi President Saddam Hussein, General Amr Al-Saadi, said Tuesday he had been approached by Washington and London with proposals that he defect from Iraq.

"I have been approached when I was on business trips abroad, by the British and the Americans," Al-Saadi told ABC television network.

Asked by the journalist whether he had given any consideration to going along with the proposal to leave his country, al-Saadi answered, "No. Why?"

"I am with my people. I have a family. When I say I have a family, I have an extended family, all the Al Saadis, which is a whole tribe," he said. (Albawaba.com)
