Former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein’s palaces are to be turned into cultural centers, institutes and libraries, Iraqi Culture Minister Nuri Farhan Al Rawi has recently said in Paris.

According to Aljazeera, Al Rawi told delegates to a UNESCO conference on stolen and illegally exported cultural objects that they have actually put a request to the American Cultural attaché, asking to turn the 170 palaces, which are currently occupied by American and British soldiers, into cultural centers. The two-day conference discussed the looting and theft of Iraqi treasures.
