Russia warned Saudi Arabia Tuesday that the Kingdom's decision to arm Syrian rebels with missile launchers will "endanger security across the Middle East and beyond," according to Agence France Presse.
Moscow's statement released Tuesday said that the Kremlin is "deeply concerned" by the recent reports suggesting that KSA was planning to purchase Pakistani-made shoulder-launched surface-to-air missiles and anti-tank systems for armed Syrian rebels that are currently located in Jordan.
"If this sensitive weapon falls into the hands of extremists and terrorists who have flooded Syria, there is a great probability that in the end it will be used far from the borders of this Middle Eastern country," Moscow's Foreign Ministry said in the report.
Tensions between the already icy Russia-Saudi relationship has dramatically increased since the start of the Syrian conflict in 2011, with Moscow backing Syria's ruling regime and KSA supporting the opposition.
At least 140,000 people have died in the nearly three-year conflict.
