The Russian Defense Ministry on Wednesday announced that its air force conducted 85 airstrikes in Syria in a 24 hour period, Reuters reports.
277 "terrorist" targets were hit in the extensive air operation.
Interfax News Agency also stated that Russian airstrikes assisted Syrian army forces in ending the siege on a strategic military airport in Aleppo.
On Tuesday Syrian government forces entered a major military airbase in the northern province of Aleppo, marking the end of a two-year-long siege by Daesh militants.
