ALBAWABA - The Russian Defense Ministry announced on Monday that Russian forces targeted a meeting of Ukrainian army commanders in Sumy city in Ukraine with two ballistic missile strikes.

Ukrainian authorities revealed that at least 34 people were killed in the Sunday attack, while Russia accused Kyiv of using civilians as a "human shield".

Meanwhile, Russia said that the attack left more than 60 Ukrainian servicemen dead.

Russia's defence ministry said it launched two Iskander missiles "at the place of a meeting of command staff". It noted: "The Kyiv regime continues to use the Ukrainian population as a human shield, placing military facilities and holding events with the participation of soldiers in the centre of a densely populated city."
