Rotary Amman Jordan River Hosts
Saraya Aqaba General Manager
In cooperation with Rotary Amman, and Rotary Amman Philadelphia, the Rotary Amman Jordan River Club hosted Mr. “Shadi Ramzi” Majali, General Manager of Saraya Aqaba, as a guest of honor and speaker for a briefing on Saraya’s flagship project – Saraya Aqaba. The meeting was held at the Hotel Intercontinental/ Amman, on Tuesday 20th May, and was attended by the Rotarians as well as their guests. The lecture entailed a presentation covering the latest developments and progress on ground of the Saraya Aqaba project, currently being developed on the northern shoreline of Aqaba.
Ms. Siham Masaad, President of the Rotary Amman Jordan River welcomed Mr. Majali at the beginning of the meeting on behalf of the members of the Rotary, noting the role played by Saraya Aqaba in the adding a touch of elegance and luxury to Aqaba, and its added value and contribution in the economic development towards a bright future.
Mr. Majali briefed the attendees of the components of the project, reflecting the success story of a true private public partnership, and asserted on the success of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone. He also added that this partnership has succeeded substantially in attracting investments that enhance the national economy, and place prominently Jordan on the international tourism map.
Saraya Aqaba General Manager also shed the light on the different stages and construction concluded in the project, while asserting that the project is in line with the time scheduled for completion which is expected to be delivered towards the end of 2009. The briefing continued by highlighting the job opportunities created through the project, as well as its Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives by interacting and communicating with the local community in Aqaba as a means towards sustainability development.
The floor was then open for discussion with the club members and guests, who in turn affirmed and recognized the importance of the project and the vital role it plays both on the social and economic levels.
It is worth noting that Rotary International includes professional men and women who interact together through their desire to serve humans, encourage high morals in the professional life, as well as enhance good will and peace in the world, who in return encourage public service and carry its duty as a society high moral and as a base for every worthy work. Rotary Amman Jordan River holds the seventh level amongst 9 similar clubs in Amman, Irbid and Aqaba. The Club was established in the year 2000, and Ms Siham Masa’ad presides upon it. Its activities are distinguished by a series of social initiatives that target civic society, through large and small scale projects.
The Saraya Aqaba destination, built over an area of 617,000 square meters, around a man made lagoon adding 1.5km to the beach front of the Gulf of Aqaba, includes various types of fully furnished residential units such as grand villas, villas, town houses and apartments. Units are delivered to new home owners who aspire to own a home in the Jordanian city of Aqaba, providing them with a unique and true experience of sheer luxury. The destination also includes four 5-star hotels and two boutique hotels, Souk Saraya which includes retail shops, restaurants and recreational activities, in addition to "Wild Wadi" Water Park, amphitheatre, kids club, Sports Park, beach club, offices and conference center as well as other facilities. The Infrastructure and construction works in Saraya Aqaba have reached an advanced stage of development on ground.
