An advanced irrigation project has been completed along the road which stretches from Al Qya'ada interchange to Al Garhoud interchange, a senior Dubai Municipality official has told local newspaper Gulf News.

Essa Al Maidoor, Director of Drainage and Irrigation Department, said the last of the five phases cost Dh3.75 million, and that the entire project, which began in June 1998, cost Dh15 million.

The new irrigation system is remote controlled by a main unit located in Al Jaddaf. The system reduces manpower and cuts down water consumption used for irrigation. The low trajectory system will not wet streets or pavements."

Dubai Municipality’s new irrigation project covers the area from Dubai International Airport to Al Rashidiya, from there to Al Qusais to AI Tawar and then to the Police Department behind the Airport. Al Maidoor added to Gulf News that the project is part of the municipality's long-term plan to beautify the city and expand the green belt. It also aims to optimize the use of water in Dubai and improve the environment by setting up parks

The landscaping along the road has now started, with palm trees, different kind of flowers and grass to be planted on both sides of the island. The project is part of the municipality's long-term plan to beautify the city and expand the green belt. It also aims to optimize the use of water in Dubai and improve the environment by setting up parks. (www.albawaba.com
