ALBAWABA - Mossad, Israel's intelligence agency, has shared more information about what it calls a secret Iranian network run by Sardar Ammar, a high-ranking officer in Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and head of a special unit within the Quds Force.

Mossad says that Ammar planned a number of attacks on Israeli and Jewish targets around the world, but they were stopped in Australia, Greece, and Germany in 2024 and 2025.

Mossad said in a statement on Sunday that Iran stepped up its efforts to attack Israeli and Jewish interests around the world after the events of October 7.  Israel said it had stopped dozens of planned operations by working closely with international intelligence agencies. This saved many lives and broke up several cells connected to Iran's terrorist network.

The "Ammar Mechanism"

Mossad said that Ammar's unit was a key part of the Quds Force's operations and had about 11,000 members who were directly led by Esmail Qaani.  It said the group was specifically tasked with promoting and executing attacks abroad, using covert operatives and front organizations to mask Tehran’s role.

Mossad said that Iran uses terrorism as a way to put pressure on Israel while still being able to say that it didn't do it.  But it said that making Ammar's involvement public hurts that plan. It also said that Iran has paid a high diplomatic price, such as having its ambassador kicked out of Australia and its envoy in Germany officially reprimanded.

Warnings and Diplomatic Fallout

Israeli officials said that finding Ammar's network shows that Iran's international operations are still a threat. Mossad promised to keep working with allies around the world to stop these kinds of plots, saying: "The international fight against Iranian terrorism will take away Tehran's immunity and hurt its power around the world."

The intelligence agency said again that it would "neutralize any Iranian threat" and keep Israeli citizens and Jewish communities safe around the world.
