Turkey has agreed to send crack troops to northern Afghanistan to train fighters of the anti-Taliban Northern Alliance, NTV television reported Wednesday.
The decision is in response to a US request made to a Turkish general currently in the United States to coordinate operations in Afghanistan, said the report.
Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit, who held an emergency meeting of his security advisers late on Tuesday, has decided to agree to the US request, according to the report -- ANKARA, (AFP)
