Afghanistan's ruling Taliban militia is determined to fight on during the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan, an official close to the Islamist militia's supreme leader Mullah Mohammad Omar told Qatar's Al-Jazeera TV Saturday.
"We see this war as a jihad (holy war). We have not asked for a halt to the fighting -- this is up to the United States," said Mullah Omar's chief of staff, Mohammad Taieb al-Agha.
"Jihad is a religious duty, and it does not violate (the tenets of) Ramadan," which starts on November 17 -- DOHA, (AFP)
