Israeli soldiers came under heavy gunfire from a Palestinian Authority military position west of Ramallah early Wednesday, reported the Jerusalem Post newspaper.
The paper said that Israeli soldiers returned fire at the Palestinians.
When the barrage of Palestinian gunfire became too great, a tank fired a shell at the source of the gunfire, said the Jerusalem Post.
There were no reported injuries among the two sides -- Albawaba.com
