Israeli Foreign Minister Shlomo Ben Ami met secretly Monday in Paris with a senior official from Qatar, which last month closed the Israeli trade office in Doha, the Haaretz newspaper reported on Thursday.
The paper said that the meeting was apparently with Ben Ami's counterpart, Sheikh Hamad Ben Jassem al-Thani.
Israeli government sources said that the meeting was "very good", and that there would probably be a follow-up, according to Haaretz.
Qatar, current chair of the Organization of the Islamic Conference, on November 9 closed the Israeli trade office under pressure from Saudi Arabia and Iran ahead of an OIC summit, which called on Islamic nations to break ties with the Jewish state.
