Hizbullah has recently attempted to retrieve from Israel the remains of a Hizbullah member, reportedly from a prominent Lebanese family, killed in clashes with Israel last June.
The movement has apparently sought the help of several international officials in having the corpse returned after supposedly being buried in Israel. Initially using indirect routes to orchestrate the return, Hizbullah appealed the Lebanese government, who became Hizbullah's emissary in the matter according to the Tel Aviv-based Haaretz daily.
Later, Hizbullah asked the Lebanese government to turn to the United States for help returning the body, who's only identification was given as "Jaber", according to Lebanese representatives. US authorities began aiding Lebanon in the matter, but later withdrew their help when it became clear that the United Nations and the Red Cross had also been approached by the Lebanese government.
