A member of the military wing of Hamas group was killed Monday in Gaza when an explosive he was preparing exploded, reported Al-Jazira satellite channel.
According to the report, when the Israeli and Palestinian forces arrived at the scene, between Karni crossing point and Netzarim settlement, they found that the blast had torn Awad Salami into pieces.
Salami was a prominent member of Izzidine Qassam Brigades, which have claimed responsibility for several fatal attacks on Israeli targets since the early nineties. He was released from prison six months ago, said the station.
The Brigades claimed last month a booby-trapped car attack in the city center of Hadera, to the north of Tel Aviv. At least two people were killed in the first attack by a Palestinian group inside Israel.
