Former Iranian president, Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani said in Tehran Tuesday that he was confident the US has learned from experience never to try to enter dangerous Iranian territory.
Issuing his comments while viewing an airspace and national security exhibition, he stressed that the Iranian nation never entertained doubts that the US and Israel were the country`s main enemies and were trying to cause troubles to the country in every possible way.
It is, however, safe to assume by now that these enemies have gained maturity and will not make the mistake of attacking Iran, IRNA reported.
In addition, Rafsanjani made it known that Iran has been working for some time now on producing its own satellites, but that a prior program is is the production of missiles, the official agency added.
Iran now has ballistic missiles with a range of 2,000 kilometers, former president Rafsanjani said.
"Today, we have the power to send our missiles up to 2,000 kilometers, and experts know that once a country has made such a step, all further steps are accessible," Rafsanjani was quoted by IRNA as saying at the conference on "Space and National Security".
"We have today the ballistic technology and if we had not limited our progress, we would have been even more advanced," Rafsanjani said.
"With this ballistic power, we can today speak of an independent satellite launch and we should seek the technology to make our own satellites," he added, saying Iran "was at the door of the club of country's having satellite technology." (Albawaba.com)
