Israeli army chief General Shaul Mofaz has ordered Palestinian private vehicles off the road in the West Bank unless they contain at least one woman, Israeli public radio reported Sunday.
An Israeli military spokesman could not immediately confirm the move, which the radio said would be applied in the next few days but did not apply to commercial vehicles or buses.
The reported measure follows a number of incidents where Israelis driving in the West Bank have been killed by shots fired by Palestinians in other vehicles.
A Jewish settlers' group demanded Friday that steps be taken after three people were killed in two separate incidents -- JERUSALEM (AFP)
