More than 140 families were made homeless in Tanzania's southwestern region of Mbeya, after their houses were destroyed by an earthquake which hit the area on Friday morning, state-owned Radio Tanzania reported Saturday.
Mbeya regional police commander Laurian Sanya told the radio on Friday evening that walls of several houses in the region's Rungwe district collapsed due to the earthquake which lasted for about 10 minutes.
The measurement of the earthquake could not be immediately ascertained.
