The hotly contested Dubai Autodrome Motor Sport Club Raceday continues this Friday March 17th on the 4.29 km international circuit at the Dubai Autodrome. The racedays involve three championships: Toyo GTI Cup, Gulfsport Radical Cup and the UAE National Superstock Bike Championship.

Things will kick off in the morning with practice followed by qualifying sessions to determine the grid positions for the races in the afternoon. There will be two races for each championship. This weekend's events promise to be a pitched battle for victory as just a few points separate the first three drivers in each championship.

In the Gulfsport Radical Cup, unbeaten after two events, Karim Al-Azhari (Team Al Nabooda Racing) is expected to come under pressure from the experienced Formula Megane racer, Jean-Yves Mallat (Race World). After scoring a promising 3rd place in his first race, Mallat managed to push past pole sitter Al-Azhari in Round 4 to lead the race, but could only finish second after a spectacular spin at the hairpin.

Making a guest appearance this week will be 2004 BARC Formula Renault Champion, Nicky Wilson (GulfSport) in what promises to be the most sensational race car in Dubai – the Radical SR8. This car recently obliterated the prestigious production lap record of the infamous 12.9 mile Nurburgring Nordschleife at 6 minutes and 55 seconds.

In the UAE National Superstock Bike championship Andy Flint leads with 31 points followed by Saudi Driver Abdul Aziz with 23 points and Grant Yake with 21 points.

The Toyo GTI cup will also be closely fought as Adam Reeve leads with 23 points. The second place is shared between Yazan Rijlah and Costas Papantonis with 12 points each.

The Dubai Autodrome is opposite Arabian Ranches off the Emirates Road. Testing takes place on Thursday the 16th with racing from 1pm on Friday the 17th. Admission is free and you are invited to visit the drivers and cars in the paddock.
