ALBAWABA - For the 21st week, Israelis have taken to the streets to protest over Netanyahu's that would give politicians greater power in selecting judges.

As Netanyahu announces his intent to move forward with the contentious judicial overhauls, following the passage of a contentious budget that contains significant funding increases for ultra-Orthodox organizations.

In the past weeks, protestors have broadened their focus to include state budget and ultra-Orthodox military draft exemption.

As per organizers' estimations, about 235,000 Israelis took part in the anti-Netanyahu-government protests all across the country with Kaplan Street in Tel Aviv being the central demonstrations hot spot.

Netanyahu and his far-right allies claim that the overhauls aim toward balancing the branches of government and reversing decades of judicial corruption. Some regard Netanyahu, who is under investigation for corruption charges, as a threat to the independence of the courts.

The protests reached their peak in late March when Netanyahu fired his defense minister after he crossed ranks and asked for the overhauls to be canceled. Israelis flocked into the streets late into the night in an unprecedented spontaneous nationwide protest. Later on, Netanyahu backtracked from his decision.
