ALBAWABA - A strong earthquake rocked the southern Philippines leaving at least nine people killed, the national disaster agency confirmed on Monday.
According to the national disaster, a 6.7-magnitude quake struck the Mindanao region on Friday, leaving nine killed with the death toll expected to increase in the coming hours.
The massive quake shook buildings leading to the collapse of part of a ceiling inside a shopping mall as well.
Furthermore, around 15 people were injured and over 800 houses were damaged or destroyed, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council confirmed.
Searching operations are still ongoing in the county where the strong earthquake hit and caused panic among residents. Rescue workers are still working to pull out people stuck under the rubble since Friday.
