A poor Yemeni Muslim gave up his "jambia" dagger after Friday prayers for the sake of the Intifada, or uprising, in the Palestinian territories, the SABA news agency reported.

Responding to a call by the imam at Sanaa's al-Qoss mosque for donations for the Palestinians, the worshipper turned over a jambia, which most Yemeni men wear on their belts as a symbol of virility.

The value of the arm was estimated at about 200 dollars.

Another worshipper anonymously left an envelope with 17,000 dollars, the news agency added -- SANAA (AFP)
