Six people suspected to be involved in the killing of late prosecutor general, Hisham Barakat in June 2015 have been arrested, a judicial source said on Sunday.

Prosecutors ordered their detention for 15 days, pending investigation, the source told Aswat Masriya. He, however, refused to reveal any information on their identities or the charges they face.

Barakat's assassination on Jun. 29, 2015 makes him the most senior state official killed since militants attacks surged in Egypt in mid-2013.

He was honoured in a military funeral the following day, amid an outpouring of global and local condemnations.
