ALBAWABA - White House sparks controversy with Trump-themed post referencing Taylor Swift's wedding.
The White House went Taylor Swift crazy on Friday, releasing a meme based on the Swift-Travis Kelce wedding at Madison Square Garden.
In an Instagram post Friday evening, the White House mocked the Garden's purple digital billboard of Swift and Kelce's "JUST&T Married" by replacing it with the message "Trump Is Your President," along with the similar text "It's happened!"—an addition that only makes sense if you think about it for less than two seconds.
The picture followed one from Thursday night, in which an image of Trump dominates a collage of all-American images like Iwo Jima and the Miracle on Ice, with the phrase "America's Eras Tour," a spoof of Swift's poster for the 2023 mega-behemoth. It even featured Taylor's "It's been a long time coming" line from the barnstorm.
The prospect of a wedding on a national holiday appeared to bother a Swift-sensitive president: On Friday, the White House also shared two videos montaging milestones in American history, including some recycling of Swift's work. One stated "Next in America's Eras Tour," while another advertised "America's greatest hits, one era at a time."
Compared to some of Trump's other celebrity hits—just this week, he posted an AI video of himself as a doctor treating Julia Roberts and Robert De Niro for "Trump Derangement Syndrome"—this was rather mild, with a hint of hesitant approval. There is a reason for that.
Trolling liberal movie stars is a safe bet for the president and an effortless win with his supporters. Going after Swift, on the other hand, needs more of a shadowbox for Trump, who understands that many people in swing areas where he is supporting candidates admire her and her liberal ideas and that a conflict with her could result in a vote against him. That's why he wished them well (but also predicted they wouldn't last).
Swift's choice of a large musician-heavy event on a July 4 weekend that Trump had envisioned for his musical ambitions may have come across as an attack, whether deliberate or not. The president had planned a massive Freedom 250 concert, but even performers like Martina McBride and Bret Michaels—hardly progressive firebrands—quickly withdrew to avoid being connected with the partisan celebration.
Meanwhile, at the Garden on Friday, Stevie Nicks and Paul McCartney were set to perform with the nation's top pop star. And in front of a who's who of liberal entertainers, in what will undoubtedly be the world's first pop performance to include a wedding announcement from Billy Madison.
Swift appears to have an uncanny capacity to get to Trump, get free rent, and live in his thoughts. In 2024, Trump uploaded a deepfake of Swift favoring him over Kamala Harris, which she denied, prompting him to post, "I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!"

While Swift has been relatively silent this term, she did speak out vehemently against Trump during the height of the BLM protests in 2020, accusing him of "stoking the fires of white supremacy and racism your entire presidency" and vowed to vote him out in the autumn. Trump expressed his displeasure with her leftist ideas, suggesting that she would face consequences in the marketplace, but she does not seem to be experiencing any she does not seem to be experiencing in the marketplace, which she does not appear to be doing.

Ironically, Swift's 1,000-person wedding, featuring musical acts with the host on a big stadium stage, is precisely the type of show Trump would enjoy directing.
His irritation may stem from the fact that he is not directing the show.
