Panic over fire rumor leads to train tragedy in India, 11 dead

ALBAWABA- Eleven passengers lost their lives after panic erupted on the Lucknow-Mumbai Pushpak Express due to a false rumor of a fire near Maharashtra's Jalgaon district on Monday evening.

The incident unfolded between Maheji and Pardhade stations near Pachora, approximately 400 kilometers from Mumbai. 

According to Central Railway officials, the train had stopped around 5 p.m. after someone pulled the emergency chain in response to the fire rumor.

Jalgaon Superintendent of Police, Maheswar Reddy, confirmed the death toll and noted the chaotic response that led to passengers jumping from the train. 

Ayush Prasad, a senior district official, said, "People were run over by a train."
