Jewish settlers clashed with Palestinians at an outpost on the outskirts of the Jewish settlement of "Shirat Ayam," in the Palestinian area of El- Mawasi and Israeli soldiers fired into the air to separate both sides, the Israeli army said Wednesday.
The riots in the Gaza Strip broke out shortly after Israeli soldiers forcibly removed about 20 settlers who had holed up in the outpost, which is actually an abandoned Palestinian home. The clashes began after a graphitti depicting the Prophet Mohammed as a pig was found the walls outside the outpost. The Palestinians came to protest and settlers started to threw. Five Palestinians were wounded, witnesses said.
Earlier, dozens of radical Jewish youths exchanged blows with soldiers sent to evict them from the outpost. The settlers established the outpost after Israeli troops demolished 11 nearby buildings.
On Tuesday night, Israeli forces opened fire at two Palestiniants, who were trying to infiltrate into the Jewish settlement of Murag, in the southern part of Gaza Strip. One was killed, while the other has succeed to escape.
